Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action RPG that was released in 2020 and set out to become one of the best video games released to this day and become the example that video games should follow for generations to come.
While Cyberpunk fell short of its original goals, it is still a perfectly playable game that does a lot of things right, so if you are a fan of it, but have already completed it and are looking to try out something new, then here is a list of similar games you should try.

1. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is an action role-playing game that was released back in 2016 and marks the fourth main installment in the Deus Ex series and a direct sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution which was released in 2011.
Set in 2029 after the Aug Incident, the game takes place in a world in which humans who have embraced the augmentation technology and those who haven’t are constantly at odds. The player assumes the role of Adam Jensen, an augmented human who is tasked with uncovering a worldwide conspiracy.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided shares a similar futuristic dystopian setting with Cyberpunk 2077, as well as numerous gameplay systems such as body augmentation, fast-paced gunplay, and various RPG elements such as branching dialogue options and types of character builds.

2. Cloudpunk
Cloudpunk is a cyberpunk adventure game that was developed by a Germany-based studio called Ion Lands and released for PC in April 2020. A few months after, in October of the same year, the game was ported to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A PlayStation 5 version of the game is scheduled to release on August 19, 2022.
The game is set in a sci-fi city of Nivalis with the player assuming the role of Rania, a new courier for a shady delivery company called Cloudpunk tasked with driving a hovercraft and delivering suspicious packages while exploiting the neon metropolis.
While navigating the districts of Nivalis, you will come across multiple side quests and meet various characters and make decisions that will have a huge impact on the story and the people you meet on your journey.
Compared to Cyberpunk 2077, Cloudpunk is much smaller in scope, however, it perfectly captures the Cyberpunk aesthetic, deals with similar topics, and has a rich dialogue system.

3. Starfield
Starfield is an upcoming action RPG that is currently being developed by Bethesda Game Studios and is scheduled to release sometime during the first half of 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
Starfield takes place in a fictional universe in the year 2330 at which point, the technology is so advanced that it allows humans to travel between solar systems. The player assumes the role of a customizable character who is a member of an organization called the Constellation, a group of space explorers that travel across the galaxy in search of rare artifacts.
While Starfield doesn’t feature a dystopian futuristic neon setting like Cyberpunk 2077, its massive open world, the freedom it provides, dialogue choices, and other RPG elements provide a similar role-playing experience.

4. Fallout New Vegas
Fallout: New Vegas is an action RPG made by Obsidian Entertainment that was released back in 2010 and is a spin-off title of the main Fallout franchise. While the game is more than a decade old, many players consider it to be a shining bastion of the RPG genre.
Set in a post-apocalyptic environment, the game takes place within the Mojave Desert and the city of New Vegas, a place where Las Vegas once stood prior to the nuclear apocalypse.
The player assumes the role of a courier tasked with delivering a package, however, he quickly finds himself in trouble as he gets ambushed, robbed, and shot in the head. Despite all odds, the courier survives and the player is tasked with uncovering the mystery behind the package and finding the would-be killers.
Fallout: New Vegas and Cyberpunk 2077 obviously don’t share the same visual setting, however, both games feature a dystopian world filled to the brim with exciting events, interesting characters, and new discoveries around every corner.
Both games also feature branching story paths, rich dialogue systems, and a plethora of customization when it comes to weapons, abilities, and other RPG elements.

5. Cyberpunk Detective
Cyberpunk Detective is an upcoming first-person open-world role-playing game that is currently being developed by CyberPsychos.
The game is set in a cyberpunk city brimming with advanced technology, neon lights, dirty back alleys, criminals, and lots and lots of dirty money. The player fills the boots of a private detective who is tasked with uncovering the truth, seeking justice, and obtaining some money on the side.
As you can probably guess, Cyberpunk Detective shares the environment and the setting of Cyberpunk 2077, advanced tech, criminal organizations, drug dealers, dirty cash, the whole package.
However, the similarities don’t stop there, as players are free to explore the world in any way they see fit, establish romantic relationships, fight crime, solve puzzles, and much, much more.

6. Ruiner
Ruiner is an indie action shooter video game that was developed by Reikon Games and published by Devolver Digital back in September 2017. This isometric shooter received positive reviews, so much so that a Nintendo Switch version of the game was released in June 2020, almost three years after the game launched on PC.
Ruiner takes place in a cyberpunk city called Rengkok during the year 2091. The player assumes control over an unnamed masked character who is on a mission to rescue their brother from a corrupt organization known as Heaven.
Ruiner is similar to Cyberpunk in terms of setting, body augmentations, technological weapons, and of course the setting. However, the games share very little when it comes to gameplay mechanics due to belonging to different genres.

7. System Shock: Enhanced Edition
System Shock is a first-person action-adventure RPG that was originally released back in September 1994. The game received a sequel in 1999 and an enhanced edition of the original was released n 2015.
The year is 2072 and the game takes place on a space station that has been taken over by an AI called SHODAN. It is up to the player who assumes the role of a hacker to put a stop to SHODAN.
System Shock gameplay revolves around exploring the space station and eliminating mutated crewmembers and cyborgs aboard it.
Aside from the RPG elements, hacking and cybernetic implants, the game greatly differs from Cyberpunk, however, it deserves a spot on this list since it is one of the games that directly inspired it.

8. Ghostrunner
Originally released back in October 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Ghostrunner is an action platformer game that was co-developed by One More Level and Slipgate Ironworks and published by Allin! Games SA and 505 Games. The game was later ported to Nintendo Switch in November of the same year, and to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in September 2021. The title received an expansion pack called Ghostrunner: Project Hel in March 2022, and a sequel is currently in development.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which most of humanity has been wiped out by an event dubbed the Burst. What remained of the human race was then taken to a large tower called Dharma, while the city itself is being ruled by Mara the Keymaster to whom human life is meaningless.
Our protagonist, Jack the Ghostrunner must parkour his way around the dangerous environments and put an end to Mara the Keymaster.
Ghostrunner shares very little with Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of gameplay mechanics, however, if you are looking for an action title with an extremely fast-paced combat set in a similar environment, then you should definitely give Ghostrunner a shot.

9. Observer: System Redux
The Observer is a psychological horror game that was originally released in August 2017, however, an expanded version of the game titled Observer: System Redux was released three years later in November 2020.
The game takes place in 2084, in a futuristic version of Krakow. The player takes control of a neural investigator tasked with entering the memories of criminals as well as victims in an effort to solve crimes.
The game does feature a cyberpunk setting, however, this is where similarities with Cyberpunk 2077 end, as it mostly focuses on the story and detective work, instead of action and combat.

10. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is a compilation of games from the Mass Effect trilogy that includes the three main entries from the franchise, as well as numerous DLC.
The game’s story follows Commander Shephard and the player is tasked with leading a group of aliens and humans against the Reapers, an ancient AI race aiming to destroy all sentient life in the universe.
Just like all BioWare games, the game puts a lot of focus into its story and dialogue choices which affect the outcome of various situations you may find yourself in.
The game also features RPG elements such as classes, items, a wide variety of weapons and armor, hacking, and much more.

11. Transistor
Transistor is an indie action RPG that was developed and published by Supergiant Games and released in May 2014.
Set in a futuristic city called Cloudbank, the player is put in control of Red, a famous singer who gets attacked by a robotic force known as the Process.
Red escapes her assassination attempt and comes across a strange magical sword lodged into a body of an old man. As she picks up the sword, she notices that it has absorbed the old man’s conscience.
Transistor features a rich storyline, and experience-based skill system and combines elements of action and strategic combat.

12. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
Sleeping Dogs is an open-world action-adventure game with a strong emphasis on martial arts. Developed by United Front Games and published by Square Enix Europe, the game was released in 2012 on multiple platforms.
Sleeping Dogs is set in Hong Kong and follows Wei Shen, a martial artist, and an undercover police officer set on infiltrating and putting a stop to the Sun On Yee Triad organization.
Unlike Cyberpunk 2077 which is set in the future, Sleeping Dogs takes place in contemporary times, however, Hong Kong’s illuminated aesthetic combined with the freedom to explore an open world, martial arts, and gunplay mechanics earn it a spot on this list.

13. Invisible Inc.
Invisible Inc. is a turn-based tactics stealth game developed and published by Klei Entertainment. The game was released in 2015 for PC and OS X with other platform releases following in 2016 and most recently 202 for Nintendo Switch.
The game takes place in a cyberpunk setting ruled by megacorporations in the year 2074. The player takes control of multiple Invisible Inc. agents and is tasked with completing different kinds of missions that involve infiltration, hacking, and item recovery.
Invisible Inc. features multiple characters, strategic gameplay, character customization, and a wide variety of different items, augments, and programs that you can use to your advantage.

14. Shadowrun: Hong Kong – Extended Edition
Shadowrun: Hong Kong is a turn-based tactical RPG developed and published by Harebrained Schemes and released in August 2015.
The game is set in 2056 in a futuristic version of Hong Kong that has fallen under the control of corporations and features turn-based combat with a high emphasis on strategy and an action point system.
Both Cyberpunk 2077 and Shadowrun: Hong Kong were based on tabletop RPG board games and as such are similar in many ways including the setting, gigs and side jobs, factions, and skill-based character progression.

15. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is a first-person action-adventure game developed by DICE and released back in June 2016 as a reboot of 2008’s Mirror’s Edge.
The game takes place in a futuristic city called Glass with the player assuming the role of Faith Connors, a runner tasked with evading the city’s security and trying to take down the corporate government.
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst gameplay focuses on urban exploration, fast running and parkour, and combat based around them, unlike most other titles on this list. While it is definitely a game worth checking out, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

16. Nivalis
Nivalis is an upcoming immersive sim game that is currently being developed by ION LANDS and will be published by 505 Games.
The game takes place in a fictional cyberpunk city of Nivalis, filled with gangs, corrupt corporations, and many other dangers and fun experiences alike.
While most titles on this list focus on action and fast-paced city life, Nivalis chooses to portray life in a cyberpunk city from the standpoint of a regular everyday man who is trying to run a business, pay his taxes and earn an honest living in this corrupt environment.
Players will be able to run their own restaurants, noodle stands, and nightclubs, make and serve orders for customers with different tastes, meet interesting people, fall in love and expand their business.

17. Detroit: Become Human
Detriot: Become Human is an adventure game that was developed by Quantic Dream and released in May 2018. Unlike the majority of titles on this list, this game’s main focus is on the story first and everything else second.
Set in Detriot 2038, the technology has evolved to a point at which humans and androids are nearly indistinguishable. The player assumes control of three different androids, the caretaker Markus, the police investigator Connor, and a housekeeper Kara.
Each of them has its own backstory and goals, and it is up to the player to find clues, gather information, and help these androids react to different situations.
The game features a rich dialogue system and the player’s choices and actions can and will affect the outcome of various situations.

18. The Ascent
This indie action-shooter RPG was developed by Neon Giant and released in July 2021 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases launching months later in March 2022.
The game takes place in the dystopian world of Veles, after the fall of a powerful corrupt organization known as the Ascent Group. It is up to the player, who controls one of the enslaved workers, to stop other factions from regaining control and uncover the mystery behind Ascent’s demise.
Besides sharing a similar visual setting and main story, the Ascent is in many ways similar to Cyberpunk 2077 with its open world, cybernetic augmentation, gear upgrades, and a plethora of weapons that you can utilize.

19. Watch Dogs: Legion
Watch Dogs: Legion is an action-adventure game that was developed by Ubisoft Toronto and a third installment in the Watch Dogs franchise as well as a direct sequel to the 2016 game Watch Dogs 2.
The game is set in a futuristic fictional version of London and follows a hacker organization known as DedSec on their journey to clear their names and free the city from the Albion’s control.
Watchdogs: Legion shares a lot of similarities with Cyberpunk 2077 including a dystopian setting, multiple factions, and organizations that you come across during your adventures, a richly populated world, a corrupt organization that controls the city, and a plethora of ways you can approach certain objectives.

20. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Coming from the same developer of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released back in 2015 for PC and Xbox. This action RPG based on the fantasy novels of the same name is a direct sequel to the 2011 game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and the third main installment in the series. The game is widely considered to be one of the best in its genre and a Nintendo Switch version was released in 2019. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game are scheduled to be released in Q4 2022.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set in a fantasy world inspired by Slavic mythology and the player assumes the role of Geralt of Rivia, the witcher who is on a mission to find his adopted daughter Ciri.
While the setting of the game obviously differs from Cyberpunk 2077, many of its aspects are present such as a rich open world, numerous quests to complete, interesting characters that populate the world, and a rich and engaging dialogue system.
