Main Entities
Guiding Light
One of the first entities players encounter in the game is the Guiding Light. This supernatural force acts as a guiding light through the dark and dangerous hotel hallways. It makes a faint sound around important objects in the surroundings and illuminates the path in completely dark spaces. The Guiding Light serves as the player’s own guardian angel, ensuring their safety at all times.
Eyes
Eyes is another entity that players need to be cautious of. It is made up of a cluster of monstrous eyeballs floating in a void-like aura. It appears in rooms or hallways after the player enters. When players look directly at Eyes, their health rapidly decreases.
To avoid its deadly gaze, players must turn away and move past it while looking at something safe, such as the floor or ceiling. Thus, stay away from this one!
Rush
Rush is a floating head with a weird grin surrounded by smoke. It makes the hotel lights flicker quickly and briefly turns off the lights in each room as it moves through them. It rushes through the halls, consuming anyone in its path. To avoid Rush, players must listen for its terrifying rumble and quickly hide in a nearby closet. Rush will open any upcoming exit doors as it speeds past.
Ambush
Ambush is similar to Rush. It has a terrifying floating face, is extremely white and has wide black voids for eyes. It requires quick reaction time ot avoid as it screeches and speeds into the room. Players have only a second to react and hide in the nearest closet. However, unlike Rush, Ambush loops back over and over in quick succession, making it more challenging to evade.
Screech
Screech is a slimy squid-like monster with a wide, beaming smile like a person. To let the gamer know that it is there, it emits a loud sound. When noticed, Screech makes an ear-piercing screech and then vanishes into the shadows. If the player doesn’t find Screech in time, it will attack, causing damage and a jump scare.
Halt
Halt resembles a ghost with bright blue eyes shining through its transparent body. It has a unique gameplay system built around it. The lights flicker for an extended period, and when the player opens the exit door, Holt appears behind them and gives chase. Players must stay ahead of Holt by running and avoiding it whenever it appears which is quite a lot.
Seek
Seek is a monster with a body made of a gooey ink-like substance and a single giant eye. It chases down the player and instantly kills them if caught. To escape Seek, players must duck and hide behind fallen objects and choose the correct paths guided by the Guiding light.
Figure
One of the game’s most unsettling characters is The Figure. It has a circular mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth, long gangly arms, and a height of around 10 feet. Since the Figure lacks eyes, it relies on its excellent hearing to locate its prey.
To avoid gaining the creature’s notice, players must remain crouching and move silently. If caught, players must hide in a closet and survive a fast-paced QuickTime event.
Secondary Entities
Glitch
Glitch is a monster made up of purple cubes surrounded by a pixelated aura. It appears as a fail-safe when the next room fails to load. Glitch attacks the player, causing the screen to glitch out, and then spawns them in the next room without dealing any damage.
Hide
Hide is another secondary entity in the game that makes sure players don’t linger in hiding spots for too long. When players spend too much time hiding in lockers or closets, Hide begins to distort their vision. A warning message is also shown on the screen, indicating that time is running out. If players ignore this warning and continue to stay hidden, Hide forcefully removes them from the safe zone.
Along with exposing gamers to the monsters waiting outside, this results in a large damage penalty of 40 points. Hide gives the game a sense of urgency by making players continually move about to avoid being a target for other monsters.
Snare
Snare is an entity that resembles a pile of dirt with several holes and thus, appears harmless on first glance. However, stepping on Snare triggers an unexpected and dangerous surprise. Spikes shoot out of the holes, impaling the player and stunning them for a few seconds.
While stunned, players are vulnerable to attacks from other roaming entities in the greenhouse area. Snare adds an additional layer of challenge and caution to the gameplay, reminding players to watch their step and avoid falling into its trap.
Jack
Unlike other monsters, Jack doesn’t directly deal damage to players through physical attacks. Instead, his goal is to inflict mental havoc and disrupt players’ progress. Occasionally, when entering new rooms or hiding spots, Jack jumps together with the player, kicking them back out of the room or closet they just entered.
His appearance is that of a ghoulish smiling face, giving the game a creepy and unpleasant feel.
Timothy
Timothy is a spider-like monster that has eight legs and hides in various drawers. As players search for loot, Timothy waits for the perfect moment to jump out and attack them. In addition to delivering a nasty jump scare, Timothy also inflicts a small amount of damage to those who fall victim to its surprise attack.
When working with drawers, players must be cautious and vigilant since Timothy’s presence makes their search more unpredictable and dangerous.
Window
Window appears only on rare occasions when players look through the various hotel windows. As players look out of the windows, they may catch a glimpse of a ghostly face staring back at them.
The face, known as Window, is more of an Easter egg than a tangible threat in the game. It doesn’t directly attack or jump scare players. Instead, it vanishes in a clap of thunder, leaving behind a mysterious atmosphere.
Void
When a player falls behind their teammates, it serves as a failsafe method to transport them back to the group. The Void appears as a purple mass of floating cubes encircled by a pixelated fog when a player lags or falls too far behind. It spawns the player in the next room after attacking them and causes the screen to glitch.
The Void’s strike delivers no physical harm, but it adds a brief disturbance and visual distortion that alerts players and encourages them to stick with their group.
