Roblox is home to an entire collection of video games with immensely simple premises, but they use the complexity of their in-game system to imbue strategy and nuance into their game. Build A Boat For Treasure is no exception.
The main goal of the game is simple: build an epic boat that can get you to the end of the River. However, this task is far more complicated in practice, with various obstacles preventing you from acquiring the coveted Treasure at the end of the road (or River)!
To remedy the paralysis one may feel when presented with the game’s in-depth mechanics, we’ve compiled a complete Beginner’s Guide where we’ll be going over everything from how to best start out, what the game’s mechanics are, and how to get to the end of that darn River! Let’s dive right in.
Primary Mechanics
In this section, we’ll go over most of what you need to know starting out.
Block
Arguably the most important item in the game, Blocks are what you’ll build your boat with. Each Block has a Strength rating, which indicates how many times it can be hit before it breaks. This is important for later stages on the River as they can be filled with obstacles that you will hit, no matter how good your steering is.

Blocks in Build A Boat
Blocks can be divided into multiple categories, though the important ones are Material and Ability Blocks. The former is what you construct your Boat with, while the latter is what drives your Boat.
Specifically, Material blocks consist of Wood, Titanium, etc., whereas Ability Blocks can have Thrusters, Magnets, and so on. Ability blocks generally have some ability, though the most common ability is providing thrust to your Boat. The strongest Block in the game is the Gold Block, which takes a whopping nine hits to break!
Quests
Quests are a convenient way for new players to quickly earn some gold and blocks, making them ideal for beginners. Specifically, Quests serve as activities to perform outside of the core gameplay. They reward players with gold and blocks upon completion. However, Quests cannot be spammed for easy gold as most Quests do not provide rewards after the first completion.
Currently, there are eight Quests in the game. The easiest to complete out of these eight Quests is Soccer, which gives you a decent amount of gold and Blocks for doing virtually nothing. As such, these Quests are a treasure trove for newer players looking to get some money in the bank.

Chests
While there are a variety of ways to acquire blocks in Build A Boat, the best way to do so is via Chests. Specifically, buying bundles of blocks separately is a waste of money, as you only get 50 blocks for 300 coins, while you can get 40 blocks for only 135 coins. As such, the best way to get more blocks is via Chests.

You can get these Chests from the Shop. We recommend buying the Epic Chest, which gives you a nice variety of Blocks. This is definitely the best option for newer players looking to get more Blocks in their arsenal. As such, make sure you’re spending your hard-earned gold in the right place by purchasing Chests.
Stages
Finally, the most important mechanic of them all is the River Stages. In total, there are eleven stages in the game currently, each harder than the last. Entering each Stage will grant you eight gold, and Stages are separated by a tall, black wall. It’s actually going through this wall that grants you gold, so keep that in mind.
The Stages are divided into four sections: green, yellow, red, and End. The green stages are Easy, the Yellow ones are of Medium difficulty, and the Hard stages will really test the limits of your Boat. However, it is the two End stages that will really decide whether or not you are worthy of the Treasure. As such, your boat needs to be prescient in its design and think ahead to ensure that you are still in fighting form by the end stages!
Useful Tips For New Players
Now that you understand the basic mechanics of the game, let’s delve into what you should focus on and do if you’re new at the game. Here are our four most important tips for a beginner in Build A Boat!
First, make sure that you do the easy Quests for some instant gold, which will allow you to get access to better Blocks very quickly. Specifically, the Soccer quest is one of the easiest in the game, making it a prime candidate for early exploitation.
Second, it’s important to choose a team that’s closer to the entrance of the first stage. As such, do not pick White unless you are using some glitch that requires a straight shot. Via this metric, the best team to join is Magenta. As such, you should join that team for the best start.
Third, ensure that you are acquiring new Blocks via Chests, as they’re the best method to acquire good Blocks with decent variety.
Finally, join the Build A Boat Group to get some cool benefits that can really help you out as a newer player.
Conclusion
We hope this beginner’s guide has been helpful in introducing the game to you, and you are now well on your way to building the best damn Boat this world has ever seen.
