Warner Brothers Montreal’s Gotham Knights has finally been released for public consumption and has brought old fans of the series rushing back to the game. With a larger-than-ever Gotham City and a selection of four heroes, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood to choose from, fans will have their hands full for quite some time.
Seeing Red Hood join the rest of our heroes seems like a rather unusual choice considering his troubled history (and possible future) with the team along with his questionable methods of fighting crime. Although conflicting, this creates a unique dynamic between the characters and adds diversity to the game.
Jason Todd was the second robin turned Red Hood after being resurrected by Ra’s Al Ghul in the Lazarus Pit, altering his personality and making him more aggressive and violent. He wants criminals in Gotham to pay and is an expert in hand-to-hand and firearm combat.
Red Hood can become a proper hurt machine if the correct skills trees and abilities are used. His way of solving stuff is by going in guns blazing and taking enemies head-on. You can make the most of his abilities by following the guide below.
Skill Tree Progression
Picking the right abilities in the skill trees is essential in having a powerful Red Hood build. Todd’s trees are divided into Marksman, Brawler, Vengeance, and Knighthood. Each tree offers valuable assets for achieving success in the game.
Justice Abilities
Red Hood has 3 types of Justice abilities, Freak, Regulator, and Mob Justice. These are found under the Vengeance tree. They affect 3 different enemy groups and increase Red Hood’s damage by 15% and critical damage by 5%. These are must-have abilities that will make cutting through layers of enemies a much easier task. This is especially true when you reach higher-leveled enemies.
Focused Fire
Focused Fire is a very powerful ability that can be found under the Marksman skill tree and provides a huge damage boost to Red Hood’s ranged attacks. When aiming down the sight for a longer period of time, Red Hood will deal 4x more damage than a normal ranged attack.
Red Hood is practically made for ranged attacks and this ability will allow him to deal large amounts of damage without even having to get close to his enemies. This can be particularly useful for fighting brutes and can also lead to one-shot kills on most enemies if you can manage to line up a headshot.
Lucky Rounds
Lucky Rounds is a Marksman tree ability that introduces a small chance for Red Hood to shoot a bullet that deals 5x more damage than normal. You can already see the potential Lucky Rounds can have once combined with the above-mentioned abilities.
Although the chance of this happening is small, considering the ungodly amount of bullets (non-lethal) that Red Hood can unload into his enemies, this effect can occur multiple times in one fight, making for huge amounts of damage being dealt to enemies around him.
Quickfire Expert
Quickfire Expert is one of the final abilities in the Marksman skill tree. And, can take some time to unlock but it is definitely worth the time. Once unlocked, Quickfire Expert increases the critical hit chance and the critical damage of Red Hood’s ranged attack combos by another 15%.
Once you unlock these ranged attack buffs, your foes won’t even be able to get near you with the immense ranged firepower that you will be possessing. You will be able to defeat enemies from vantage points and wreak havoc from afar.
Iron Grip
Iron Grip is a Brawler ability that allows Red Hood to carry out grab attacks without being interrupted by enemy attacks. Some brutes can still interrupt you when performing a grab attack. But, being immune from the majority of attacks is still a huge advantage when it comes to melee combat.
This ability is on this list because it is incredibly useful and cheap. It comes in handy when you are interrogating enemies. Or, when you are performing large grabs and don’t want to be interrupted in the process.
Momentum Abilities
Now, let’s move on to the more powerful abilities in the game. Momentum abilities can only be used if you have generated enough momentum. Therefore, they must be used strategically. This makes it difficult for players to master these abilities.
Mystical Rounds
Mystical Rounds has become a widely used momentum ability by many players due to its usefulness in fighting large groups of enemies. This allows Red Hood to target an average of 5 players at the same time to fire a mystical bullet at all of them. This can one-shot common enemies but deals a decent amount of damage to tougher ones as well.
It can help you get out of overwhelming situations where you are outnumbered. And, can also help you grab a short breather in the midst of a heated battle.
Two-Fisted Reload

The Two-Fisted Reload is another very useful momentum ability that enables Red Hood to perform a quick reload while hitting and shooting enemies. Now, this ability may sound pretty ordinary but actually plays an important role in ensuring a smooth flow of combat.
You will be able to quickly reload your weapons on the go as you take down more and more enemies. This reduces the chances of you having to perform a slow reload in the middle of a difficult fight and allows you to constantly keep shooting at your enemies.
