With the release of Gotham Knights, many fans of the previous DC titles and newcomers have flooded the game to see what Warner Brothers Montreal offers in their latest title. The studio has managed to reach a wider audience with Gotham Knights by adding 4 playable characters to dive into Gotham City with.
Barbara Gordon or Batgirl as most know her to be is the prodigal daughter of Police Commissioner Jim Gordon. She has always displayed immense willpower and determination to achieve her goals and does not back down from the challenges life throws her way.
Her recovery from a serious spinal injury back to Batgirl is proof enough of her mental and physical prowess in overcoming obstacles. Batgirl carries the tonfa as her weapon of choice and makes use of her incredible hacking skills in technology and computer systems to gather intel and find ways to defeat her foes.
Batgirl is similar in many ways to Batman, especially when it comes to her style of fighting and her intellect to devise strategic plans before approaching any mission. A combination of the right skills and abilities can make her a force to be reckoned with. Read this article for a complete guide about some of her best abilities in-game.
Skill Tree Progression
Batgirl’s skill trees are divided into Justice, Grit, Oracle, and Knighthood. It must also be noted that Batgirl is the more strategic of the bunch and this is why utilizing her hacking abilities in combination with her focused combat style is important if you want to make the most of her character in Gotham Knights.
Digital Ghost

Digital Ghost is an Oracle skill tree ability that allows Batgirl to go past electronic devices such as cameras and sensors without being detected. This makes for an important stealth ability that can allow her to sneak behind enemy lines to execute her plan.
This may seem like an ordinary ability but to all stealth lovers, this is a golden ticket to practically just walk past enemy defenses. This makes complex stealth missions much easier for Batgirl and allows her to easily reach areas that other characters might not be able to.
Second Wind

Next up on this list is Second Wind, a Grit tree ability that allows Batgirl to revive herself back to 50% of her health after being downed. Since Gotham Knights is normally meant to be played co-op, Second Wind can be helpful when playing solo.
This means you will no longer have to worry about being knocked down with no one to revive you when playing as Batgirl. This can come in handy when taking on difficult missions solo, where the chances of getting downed are much higher.
HP +

For those players who want to lean towards a tanky build like Batman, then HP+ is an ideal ability. This ability can be found under the Grit skill tree and increases Batgirl’s base health by 40%, essentially giving her more health points than any other character in the game.
This will allow Batgirl to not only inflict damage but also endure more damage. This ability combined with Second Wind will practically give her two lives, each with extra base health. She will be able to target larger, more powerful enemies in hand-to-hand combat with ease.
Hacking Overload

Keeping stealth in mind, Hacking Overload can be found under the Oracle skill tree and gives Batgirl the ability to change the function of security systems and make electrical panels explode. This ability is especially useful in stealth scenarios, where directly attacking an enemy is not a viable option.
In such stealth missions, Batgirl can catch enemies off guard and use electrical panels to incapacitate them to avoid detection.
Heavyweight

Heavyweight is a Justice skill tree ability that increases Batgirl’s heavy melee attack damage by 10% and her stun elemental effect build-up by 20%. This will allow Barbara to dish out increased damage to tougher enemies and will also help her stun enemies more effectively when using elemental effects on her weapons.
Elite Beatdown

The Elite Beatdown is also a Justice skill tree ability that increases Batgirl’s defense ability by 20% when using Beatdown. Beatdown will help her target a single enemy to quickly put them out of commission. This is most effective when combating brutes who can withstand multiple hits.
At the same time, the increased defense means she will be able to withstand other attacks more effectively when using her Beatdown ability and will not be interrupted as often.
Momentum Abilities
Batgirl is already a melee powerhouse because of her standard skill tree abilities, but the addition of the right momentum abilities will really make her prowess shine.
Tonfa Jackhammer

The Tonfa Jackhammer momentum ability enables Batgirl to strike the ground twice with her Tonfa to create a wave of damage that affects all enemies within a certain radius. This is one of the best momentum abilities in Gotham Knights and is a powerful area attack.
This will make sure that Batgirl is never outnumbered or at a disadvantage when fighting mobs of enemies and allows her to quickly level the playing field (quite literally).
Batarang Barrage

The Batarang Barrage is a momentum ability that can be used as a backup plan for when things go south during a fight. In this ability, Batgirl throws out multiple Batarangs to damage and stun the enemies in front of her.
These Batarangs don’t necessarily inflict a lot of damage but can definitely help you out of a sticky situation as the stun element of the attack can give Batgirl time to get to safety or reevaluate her approach.
